About Us

Once upon a time...

There lived a community rich with resources and information necessary to take them to the next level. All was well and peaceful until one faithful day when curiosity got the best of a young maiden in the community.

She noticed a huge gap that split the pastures of data industry into two. It was extremely difficult for her and her fellow maidens to get across to the other side that was rich with resources. So, she rubbed minds together with like-minded maidens and they decided to build a bridge to solve this problem.

This bridge would help her and her fellow maidens who are interested in the resources, to cross over and flourish on the other side. As they journey along the bridge, they gain knowledge and tools instrumental to their success on the other side. This crucial bridge was named Women in Data Africa, WIDA.

What Our Community Members Say:

"My highlight from the challenge definitely has to be the support from other women in the community. Prior to my joining the WiDA community and starting the 25 days of data challenge, I had felt alone in my journey. The women in the community participating in this challenge have been a major source of motivation to me, especially on days when I feel discouraged to keep going. It is inspiring to see other women on the same journey with me show up for themselves."

Olabisi

"My highlight so far has been working on projects on customer segmentation, behaviour analysis, and market trends analysis—areas I have always wanted to learn and work on.

Additionally, seeing many women communicate the same challenges I have faced in this field and still be motivated to complete their tasks has been extremely inspiring."

Oluchi

"For me, it has been a mirror in which I saw what areas I lacked and how I can improve. I like how the challenge allowed me to be so self-aware about my learning process.

The most outstanding thing for me was that I realized I was not alone and I could rely on the community when I had issues with anything and it was a safe space to express myself.  I can say now I am Bold, courageous and confident in what I can do."
